Module Description

This module is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of effectively managing and catering to the diverse interests of tourists. With the increasing globalisation and accessibility of travel, it has become crucial for tourism professionals to possess the necessary competences, knowledge, and skills to address the varied preferences and needs of tourists.

Throughout this module, learners will explore different tourism niches, including: Medical Tourism, Sports Tourism, Dark Tourism, Agritourism, Heritage and Culture Tourism, and Sustainable Tourism. By examining these niches, students will gain insights into the specific requirements, motivations, and expectations of tourists who engage in these specialised forms of travel.

How you’ll be assessed

The course comprises:

•  Lectures per module depending on the number of ECTS (once or twice a week);
• 3-hour lectures;
• Guided learning, presentations, comprising synchronous online discussions, tutorials and/or videos;
• Self-study hours comprising research, reading and assignment work.

Assessment

The programme includes different forms of assessment which allow for and promote students’ critical engagement. The formative and summative assessment tasks may include an in-class assignment and/or a home-based written assignment using diverse assessment tools which may take the form of online and in-class discussions, examinations, case studies, reports, proposals, essays, and presentations, etc., as applicable to the diverse modules.
