Module Description

The concept and practice of cross-cultural communication has gained prominence in the travel and tourism industry in recent years. The aim of this module is to introduce learners to this vast concept which is gaining fast prominence in the travel and tourism sector. Through this module, learners will gain an appreciation of the differences amongst cultures and the different cultural beliefs and values. Learners will develop knowledge regarding the advantages and obstacles in cross-cultural communication as well as develop important intercultural skills of communication.

How you’ll be assessed

The course comprises:

  •  Lectures per module depending on the number of ECTS (once or twice a week);
  • 3-hour lectures;
  • Guided learning, presentations, comprising synchronous online discussions, tutorials and/or videos;
  • Self-study hours comprising research, reading and assignment work.

 

 

Assessment

The programme includes different forms of assessment which allow for and promote students’ critical engagement. The formative and summative assessment tasks may include an in-class assignment and/or a home-based written assignment using diverse assessment tools which may take the form of online and in-class discussions, examinations, case studies, reports, proposals, essays, and presentations, etc., as applicable to the diverse modules.
