Module Description

As its name implies Knowledge Representation is a field treating the knowledge of a specific domain and represent it in a manner that a computer can utilise it. This is achieved by means of mathematics and logic understanding. By means of this module, students will learn how to interpret this domain specific knowledge and represent it formally through constraint problems and logic functions. Even more importantly, students will learn how to apply these techniques to real-world domain specific knowledge as computer systems are so heavily integrated in most industries’ processes.

Often, data is used together to create some base of knowledge. In summary, automated reasoning is about taking a knowledge base and producing new knowledge derivations from it using rules of inference. In this module, students will learn the appropriate algorithms and inference logic used for automated reasoning.
