Module Description
This module focuses on the development of specialised skills and techniques that are critical for providing high-level care in complex and demanding situations. The module begins with an exploration of medication management, highlighting the role of care providers in ensuring safe and effective use of medications. Students then move on to wound care where they will familiarise themselves with learning techniques for assessing, treating, and preventing various types of wounds and where they will explore the latest evidence-based practices in wound care.
Mobility support is also covered in depth, with students learning how to assist individuals with limited mobility, whether due to injury, chronic illness, or age-related conditions. The module also addresses the importance of promoting independence and dignity in individuals with mobility challenges. Students will also gain skills in therapeutic interventions, learning how to provide therapies that address both physical and emotional needs.
By the end of the module, students will have acquired the advanced skills needed to provide high-quality care in complex care environments, ensuring that individuals receive the specialised support they need to maintain their health, well-being, and dignity.
