Award in Maltese Language Proficiency – Level 3
Course Description
This award aims to equip learners with the knowledge and skills required to communicate in level-appropriate Maltese in the areas of reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
Through reading comprehensions and simple writing tasks, learners will navigate and acquire vocabulary in Maltese related to various themes which will help them understand and engage in conversations both in a personal and a professional context.
This award will also consolidate the learners’ knowledge and use of level-appropriate grammatical structures in Maltese, helping them become more proficient speakers and writers in the language.
Entry Requirements
- A Level 2 qualification in Maltese such as IDEA College’s Award in Maltese Language Proficiency – Level 2, or equivalent.

- Individuals who would like to become more proficient in their use of the Maltese language.

- This award is aimed at individuals who would like to gain more knowledge and skills in an effort to ameliorate their level of Maltese.

How you’ll be assessed
The main objective of the assessment for this award is to assess the four language skills – reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Therefore, the assessment tasks shall consist of an oral component, a listening comprehension, a reading comprehension, and a short, guided written task.
Furthermore, formative assessment will take place during the session in the form of discussions, feedback, etc.
Assessment
All assessment tasks aim to provide the learner an opportunity to produce evidence of their competences aligned to the learning outcomes of this module.
Furthermore, the tasks may include different forms of assessment which allow and promote students’ knowledge in the area.
For successful completion of this study unit, the student is required to achieve an overall pass mark of 50%.
