Module Description

The aim of this module is to equip participants with knowledge and practical strategies to effectively navigate the complexities of communication in a culturally diverse world. In today’s globalized society, cultural diversity plays a significant role in shaping human behavior and interactions.

By understanding the impact of cultural diversity on communication, participants will be better equipped to address the challenges that arise when working with individuals from different cultural backgrounds.

Throughout the module, participants will learn effective strategies to negotiate and manage the competing challenges that may arise between staff members, as well as with business partners, clients, and suppliers from diverse cultural backgrounds.

By gaining a deeper understanding of cultural diversity and its impact on communication, participants will be able to build stronger relationships, enhance collaboration, and foster a more inclusive and harmonious work environment.

Entry Requirements

Candidates who apply for this course must possess 

  • a pass in English Language* and Mathematics at MQF Level 3 (‘O’ Level or equivalent).
  • Students whose first language is not English will be required to demonstrate evidence of an adequate level of English proficiency.

How you’ll be assessed

The course comprises:

  • Evening classes for part-time courses.
  • Classes held throughout the day for full-time courses.
  • Guided learning, presentations, comprising synchronous online discussions, tutorials and/or videos.
  • Self-study hours comprising research, reading and assignment work.

Assessment

Assessment is carried out via two mandatory components:

  • Modular Assessment
  • Project Assessment

The programme includes different forms of assessment which allow for and promote students’ critical engagement. The formative and summative assessment tasks may include an in-class assignment and/or a home-based written assignment using diverse assessment tools which may take the form of online and in-class discussions, examinations, case studies, reports, proposals, essays, and presentations, etc., as applicable to the diverse modules.

  • Apply strategies to communicate with people from different cultures in presentations, meetings, and everyday interactions
  • how In-depth cultural awareness and understanding of the impact of cultural differences
  • Identify and evaluate cultural clashes and develop a strategy to prevent them in future.

Module-Specific Digital Skills and Competences:

  • Navigate through the online learning platform to benefit from assignments, discussion boards, literature, tutorials etc.
