Module Description

This is an introductory module on financial and management accounting and it provides students with the required financial knowledge of hospitality organisations. Students will learn how to read and analyse financial statements and understand basic techniques to manage costs and capital investment decisions.  

The module will emphasise on various aspects of financial management which involves: Time value of money, discounted cash flow analysis, capital budgeting and net present value calculations. 

 

 

Entry Requirements

Candidates who apply for this course must possess the following: 

  • a qualification at MQF Level 4 (one ‘A’ Level or equivalent in any subject); 

AND 

  • a pass in English Language and Mathematics at MQF Level 3 

Preference is given to applicants having a year of work experience in an area related to this study programme.

How you’ll be assessed

The method of assessment is assignment-based.

The module comprises

  • 6 lectures per module; 
  • 3-hour lectures (evening);
  • 12 hours of online content per module, comprising synchronous online discussions, tutorials and/or videos.
