Module Description

This module will provide students with the relevant knowledge on managerial and operational aspects of an insurance business and will obtain a clear and consolidated understanding of how insurance businesses are strategically managed. Students will also be acquainted with leadership theories and styles that best support organisational development. 

The module covers contemporary issues in management and leadership encountered by insurance businesses. Students will learn why the management of insurance businesses might differ from other industries and will be able to understand why decision making under uncertainty might require different managerial skill sets.  

The module also covers operating models and the use of technology and systems to gain operational efficiencies and high-functioning businesses.

How you’ll be assessed

The method of assessment is assignment-based.

The course comprises:
• 6 lectures per module;
• 3-hour lectures (evening);
• 12 hours of online content per module, comprising synchronous online discussions, tutorials and/or videos.
